Mike Lyons has practiced law for forty years, thirty years of which have been in the medical device industry. He has handled a broad range of legal matters, including general corporate and contracting, M&A, employment, litigation, and financial transactions. Over the last twenty years his practice has concentrated on Compliance, including the creation of corporate compliance programs and implementation of digital systems to monitor and manage compliance.

Mike previously worked in compliance at U.S. Surgical Corporation, Covidien, C.R. Bard and Becton Dickinson (BD). At BD – a company with 75,000 employees - he served as Vice President and Deputy Chief Compliance Officer worldwide, where he managed a team of eighteen attorneys and compliance specialists. Among his responsibilities at BD were managing preparation and implementation of compliance policies; conduct of training; promotional review; compliance communications; establishing systems for detecting and correcting compliance violations; transparency activities (e.g., Sunshine Act); FCPA; and managing strategic initiatives for the worldwide compliance team.

Mike approaches Compliance as a problem solver. He believes his job is not to tell clients “no”, but rather to tell them how to get to “yes” ethically and legally.
